Old Fashioned Christmas
Santa's helpers in Garretson are busy making last minute details for their "Old Fashioned Christmas' which will be held on Saturday, December 3rd. The Christmas celebration in its 12th year has become a Christmas family tradition for those that reside in this small community and for those families that attend the event every year. Our goal for this event is to have families spend time together and make lasting Christmas memories for their children. Garretson is a small community but does BIG things for the holidays. The busines district is outlined in white lights, store fronts are decorated for the event and residents take pride in decorating their yards in a very festive way. Visitors often refer to it as coming upon Bethlehem because it glows from a distance. There are many events throughout the day that will keep all members of the family busy. The real crowd pleasers in the evening are horse drawn wagon rides, fire truck rides, carriage rides and of course a visit to Santa at our own North Pole Branch at Splitrock Park all free of charge. The Grande Finale of the evening is a huge Fireworks Display on the end of Main Street. Garretson extends an invitation to all citizens in the area to come and experience the hometown friendliness and hospitality of a small town during the holidays. Many refer to it has a Normal Rockwell family event. For a full listing of events please go to www.garretsonsd.com or for information please call 594-6721.
